Sad  This is sad.  I really liked him.  He was a great example of someone from Buffalo that made it big.  He was alway proud of being from here and spoke well of his hometown often.

New York Times: NBC's Tim Russert Dead At 58

Quote
NEW YORK (CBS) ― The New York Times is reporting that NBC Senior Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief Tim Russert has died from an apparent heart attack. The are citing family reports. He was 58-years-old.

It's also scary that he's the same age as my mom and dad.

This is so sad. I confess I don't know as much about politics as I should, but I always enjoyed watching him. He was always interesting and upbeat. I wanted to see his coverage of the presidential election. At least he got to see his son graduate college...but Father's Day is this Sunday. It's going to be so hard for his family. cry

RIP Tim

You were great at what you did.

my brother just called and told me this, I drove home super fast and it's true.  Sad  I was hoping it was a misunderstanding.
My brother is a hardcore republican and of course I'm as liberal as they come, the only thing we ever agreed on was that Tim Russert was the most unbiased political host out there, and was damn good at what he did.

I loved him, not only because of his work, but because he was a local boy.  He grew up on Buffalo's Southside and NEVER forgot his roots.  He used to sound off "Meet The Press" during football season with a resounding "Go Bills!"

I think that means something to me because a lot of people who leave Western NY seem to be ashamed to admit that's where they're from.  As a city, we get made fun of a lot.  He never was ashamed.  He was prouder than anyone to be a Buffalo native.

I watch "Meet The Press" every Sunday, because the man plays hardball with anyone.  Unbiased is definitely the word to describe him.  He asked the tough questions, and forced the answers.  He put so much into his coverage of this Presidential race, that it saddens me that he won't be here to see the results.

RIP Tim

Watching the returns this November without Tim and his whiteboard just won't be the same.

RIP to a great and entertaining journalist.

I know this guy must have been well-liked because Conservatives were praising him today, even though he spent his pre-NBC days working with Democrats.  Generally I don't "remember" many of the media talking heads, but this guy had a good way about him.  He was always into it.

RIP Tim.

Watching NBC's tribute to Tim just induced tears.  Oh, wow.  Seeing the flag flying at half mast in front of my Buffalo's City Hall...Jesus.  I miss my town.

It's a beautiful tribute.  I'm getting emotional.  So loyal to his family and to his city.  I think we feel like we lost a brother.  I was always so proud to tell people he was from my city.

I love how Brokaw signed off with "Go Bills!"

Do you think it's sadder for us because he was one of ours?  Our hometown boy?

I got choked up when they were showing him in his Buffalo Bisons' jersey.

But he really was a great family man.  He was a great dad and a great son.  He was so proud of his family - we all saw a side of him that's not normally seen with any TV personality.  He was so proud of his kid, Luke.  You have to love a guy who brings family values into the spotlight like he did.  He was one guy who loved his family and brought that to the forefront of everything he did.

Probably.  I identified with him so much.  He's what journalist should be.  The world is worse off without him.

Conan O'Brien skipped his usual monologue tonight and talked about Tim Russert. He showed clips from interviews with him as well.
