Columbus police and homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in a Columbus neighborhood. The shooting happened Saturday night around 11 p.m. on the intersection of Lamore Street and Reese Road. They say it may have happened during a card game.

"It's our second homicide of the year," says Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Bryan confirms with News Leader Nine that the victim has been identified as 29-year-old Henderson Darrisaw. Officials say Darrisaw was with family when the shots rang out.

"He was shot multiple times. The circumstances prevail that he was apparently playing cards with his family when the incident occurred," says Bryan.

Bryan says Darrisaw was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional where he died from his injuries less than an hour later.

"We reported to the hospital emergency room, so he was transported by EMS to the hospital. He arrived there at 11:25 p.m. and was pronounced at 12:01 a.m.," explains Bryan.

Police are working to find a suspect in the shooting. The Muscogee County Coroner says although it's a new start to the year, the city normally averages more than two homicides a month.
