Provo police released the exact route for the funeral procession of fallen officer Joseph Shinners, which will travel from Orem, through Provo and into Springville Saturday.

Shinners was shot and killed Saturday, Jan 5, after responding to reports that a man with outstanding warrants was in a car in the parking lot of the Bed Bath & Beyond store in Orem.

The procession will follow Shinners' funeral Saturday and will take Shinner's body from the UCCU Events Center at Utah Valley University to the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, taking a detour through Provo, where he served.

Starting at the UCCU Events Center, the procession will travel north to Interstate 15 at Orem's Center Street, then proceed on I-15 until Provo Center Street, where cars will exit. It will then travel down Center Street in Provo and turn right on University Avenue. It will travel on University Avenue and return to I-15, and will continue to 400 South in Springville. That road will lead to the Evergreen Cemetery, where Shinners will be laid to rest.

Shinners' funeral is set for 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Utah Valley University UCCU Event Center at 800 W. University Parkway, Orem.

Matt Frank Hoover, 40, was arrested on suspicion of firing the shot that killed Shinners. Officials say he will be charged with aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder, possession of a weapon by a restricted person and possession of methamphetamine.
