Kathy, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Sept. 5th, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a loving, caring compassionate soul, who was also the person who was the most fun to be around ever!
Her life was spent caring for other people, delivering food, clothing and other necessities, cleaning, driving, and providing whatever she could for anyone who was in need of anything she could give and she did it all with a smile. In 1995, Kevin and Kathy moved their young family from Spokane to Loon Lake. She soon found the GreenHouse and her caring, compassionate, personality was a perfect fit with their mission of providing basic needs and whatever else they could in the community. She was the program manager for the GreenHouse for her last 10 years of her 20+ years of service, going the extra mile in all of them. Kathy especially loved the children's programs, gathering and distributing school supplies, coats, Christmas toys, gifts and anything else she could manage.
Above all, Kathy was wonderful mother who was always there for her children, grandchildren, and other family members. She loved hosting and attending birthdays, holidays, family and school events or anything else that involved time together.
Kathy volunteered her time to many other organizations and events as well. She put in many extra hours at Habitat for Humanity, school club events, and community fund raisers. She did not do it for the recognition or notoriety. In it fact was just the opposite. She was camera shy. But she loved to help and be in the middle of helping and putting events together.
Kathy is preceded in death by her mother, Irene Wood and a brother, Charlie Peterson and many friends who go unmentioned but are now reunited.
Kathy is survived by those closest to her heart, husband Kevin; children Tina, Jennifer (Tom), Nick (Heather), Scott and Chad (Tia); grandchildren Natalie, Jade, Cameron, Caleb, Cash, Taylor, Camila, Payten, Holley, Arica, and Kylee; her father, George Hallet; her step-father, Tom Wood; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred and Charlotte Lopez; her brother, Scott; sisters, Debbie, Rayann, and Fayann; sister and brothers in law: Machelle, Frederal (Trisha), Rafeal, Perceyleono, DonDiago, Trinity; many nieces and nephews and too many friends to count.
A celebration of her life will be held at The Deer Park Open Door Church, N205 Main St. on Sept.23 at 2:00pm. The family is in charge of the arrangements.
