Gun Barrel City Police Chief Damon Boswell confirmed a Seven Points reserve police officer was arrested Sunday on charges of purchasing and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Judy Arnold, 44, of Gun Barrel City was arrested after a 16-year-old died at her residence.

Seven Points police said Arnold had been a reserve officer since September. According to Boswell, the minor appeared to die from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The case is under investigation to determine the exact cause of death.

According to the Gun Barrel Police, two minors were drinking alcohol at Arnold's home when the 16-year-old shot himself.

Boswell said Arnold knew the minors were in possession of alcohol. Arnold was not in the home when the minor was shot.

"The shooting took place about 20 minutes after Arnold left the home," said Boswell.

The 16-year old was a student at Mabank High School. On Monday, Mabank High School confirmed they had counselors on campus to help students.

Because of the victim's age, other details about his death are not being released.

A Facebook post said the student will be honored and a celebration of his life will be held on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. The Facebook posts read, "We encourage you to attend to support our student body and family during this difficult time. This tragedy will take time to heal, but with this memorial, it will help students to celebrate his life."

The candlelight memorial will be held at the steps at the entrance to Mabank High School.

The incident is still under investigation. Arnold was released after posting a $2,000 bond.
