The body of a Connecticut man who disappeared after a Manhattan party was discovered Wednesday morning in a wooded stretch of the Jersey Shore, according to sources.

Investigators found the remains of Joseph Comunale, 26, buried in a shallow grave in a desolate area behind an Oceanport, N.J., florist, the sources told the Daily News.

The suspected killer gave up the burial site 55 miles south of the building where Comunale was last seen three days earlier, a source said.

The killer brought the dead body to New Jersey inside his Mercedes-Benz, sources said.

Although no charges were filed, sources indicate police were looking at James Rackover — the son of well-known jeweler Jeffrey Rackover, the go-to guy for A-list stars like Jennifer Lopez and Natasha Bedingfield.

Both father and son had apartments inside the building, and sources said James hired a lawyer Wednesday.

"To me, he was a sweet loving kid," said James' grandfather. "I don't know him in any other sense. It's a shock. I love that kid. I can't see him doing something like that."

"Who knows what went on at that party?"

The murder took place in the apartment, where cops found plenty of blood evidence despite attempts to clean up the area, according to a police source.

A cadaver dog picked up the victim's scent before the body, beneath about two feet of fresh dirt, was uncovered, the sources indicated.

Investigators had recovered the missing man's pants along with bloody sheets stuffed inside a garbage bag near the apartment building.

Comunale disappeared after popping into the East Side apartment party late Saturday. He was last seen on video re-entering the building around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Hofstra University student was reported missing by his father a day later. Sources said there was a 911 call on Sunday night reporting unspecified suspicious activity at the building.

Cops said "several people" were brought in for questions, including one uncooperative person of interest in the death. No arrests were yet made.

The Stamford, Conn., man was with two New Jersey men and three women at the home inside the Grand Sutton tower on E. 59th St. and First Ave.

Though the party host was not identified, sources said the guests came to hang out with the son of a well-known jeweler who lives in the building.

Police sources said the party host called down to the front desk requesting a luggage cart around 6:30 p.m., with video surveillance capturing the man rolling two pieces of luggage out of the building.

The man also asked a building employee how long they held onto video surveillance tapes before erasing the content, sources said.
