A woman who suffered a shotgun wound to the chest early Sunday during an incident police believe to be drug related has died.

According to a news release from the Bloomington Police Department, officers were called to investigate a shooting in the 2300 block of South Rogers Street around 12:50 a.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, officers found 26-year-old Brittany Sater with a gunshot to the chest.

Sater was rushed to Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital in critical condition where she later died.

"Investigators are still working to determine what happened and who was involved. Preliminary findings indicate that two suspects, possibly a male and female who were known to the victim, entered her residence and shot the victim with a shotgun," said a statement from BPD. "Investigators believe the incident started over drugs and that the suspects are no longer in the Bloomington area."
