A New Mexico man was killed in a single vehicle crash in far east Parker County late Thursday.

The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. near the Tarrant County line when an eastbound 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, for an as yet undetermined reason, traveled into the grassy median, skidded across the westbound lanes and into the westbound barrow ditch, according to DPS Staff Sgt. Ricky Hunter.

The SUV reportedly then struck a tree and overturned.

The driver, Joshua D. Gurule, 30, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was not secured by a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to DPS.

Gurule was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner had not ruled on a cause and manner of death as of Friday evening.
