A Shreveport man is in jail after police arrested him in connection with a woman found dead in Haughton Sunday morning.

Investigators with the Bossier Sheriff's Office arrested Nathaniel Allen Mingo, 34, of 8300 block of Old Mooringsport Road, around noon Monday. He was charged with 2nd degree murder for the killing of 33-year-old Amanda Collins of Elm Grove, an acquaintance.

Mingo was taken into custody following a brief struggle in west Shreveport. The arrest included agents from the BSO, the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force, Shreveport Police Department K-9 officers and Deputy U. S. Marshals.

A land owner reported finding a truck in a pasture some 300 yards off of the roadway of the 4500 block of Highway 157 on Sunday. Deputies found a 2014 maroon Ford F250 four-door truck with Collins dead inside. The truck was reported stolen out of Mississippi.

Collins suffered a single gunshot wound, and BSO spokesman Lt. Bill Davis said it quickly became clear to investigators the case was a homicide.

South Bossier Fire District Two and Bossier Parish Coroner's Office assisted in the investigation at the scene. The Coroner's Office is in the process of determining the exact cause of death.

Late Sunday night, Bossier investigators obtained a warrant for Mingo's arrest of Mingo. Police said his lengthy criminal history includes charges for various drug possessions, multiple charges of resisting an officer, aggravated escape and other charges.

Mingo is being incarcerated at the Bossier Maximum Security Facility with a $2,000,000 bond.
