Deputies say the body of 18-year-old Slye Mier of Crowley was found in a field of Ebeneezer Road, just east of Crowley, on Monday morning. They say his death is being classified as suspicious.

Deputies say a resident in the area called the sheriff's office to report the body shortly after 10:00 a.m. this morning. Mier was lying face down in the field, and an autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.

Earlier Monday morning, Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish asked for the public's help locating Mier; he was wanted on charges of Armed Robbery, False Imprisonment, and Unauthorized Use of a Movable.

Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson said the person Mier and the juvenile robbed and tied up may be a relative of the teenagers.

"They robbed the homeowner by knife point. An investigation shows they then stole several debit cards and cash before getting away with the person's car", says Gibson.

According to Sheriff Wane Melancon, this all stemmed from a simple robbery in Crowley over the weekend. He says a BOLO (be on the look-out) alert was issued for two suspects, one of which was Mier. Rayne Police allegedly tried to stop the vehicle Mier was riding in on Sunday night, but they say the driver fled on West Jeff Davis in Rayne and ended up underneath the Highway 90 overpass. Police say the two suspects then jumped out the vehicle, and a K-9 was brought in to locate them. One juvenile was taken into custody, police say the other suspect was identified by Crowley Police as Slye Mier.
