Murder charges have been filed against the ex-boyfriend of a southwest Illinois teenager.

The Major Case Squad announced during a news conference Saturday evening that Jordan Kuykendall, 20, has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Erin Schneider, 17.

She was found dead with multiple stab wounds Thursday in Kuykendall's Columbia home. Police found Schneider's body there after her parents reported her missing. Newschannel 5 learned that Schneider had filed an order protection against Kuykendall two weeks ago.

Kuykendall is currently under police guard at a St. Louis hospital being treated for injuries he sustained during a car accident Thursday morning. He's being held on $1 million bond.

Visitation for Schneider will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 30 and from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Monday at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, also at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Quernheim Funeral Home at 800 S. Market St., Waterloo, IL 62298.
