A man is in custody after authorities say he stabbed a man to death during an early morning altercation in Buncombe County.
Lieutenant Randy Sorrells of the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said that 22-year old Clay Jordan, of Asheville, was charged with voluntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon.
According to Sorrells, Sheriff's deputies responded to 238 Bent Creek Ranch Road just after 3 am Thursday after receiving several 911 calls about a fight and stabbing. When deputies arrived, they found a large crowd of people who had been attending the party and a man and woman suffering from stab wounds.
The man, 24-year-old Brandon Vasilauskas, of Asheville, was transported to Mission Hospital where he died as a result of severe stabs wounds, said Sorrells. The woman, 22-year-old Lauren Ashley Farmer, also of Asheville, was also transported to the hospital due to wounds to her wrist. Her injuries were not life threatening, Sorrells said.
Jordan is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
