Police say a bicyclist is dead after a hit-and-run collision Thursday in the Rancho Cucamonga area.
According to deputies withe the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, an unidentified motorist was operating a vehicle along Wilson Avenue. As the car approached San Sevaine Road, around 11:50 p.m., it struck a bicycle ridden by Fontana resident Alex Patrick Silva, 25.
Rather than stopping to administer aid, the driver fled the scene. Paramedics rushed Mr. Silva to Fonata's Kaiser Foundation Hospital, but doctors there were unable to save him. A fellow cyclist avoided being hit.
No description of the suspect vehicle has been released. Witnesses have been asked to call (909) 477-2800, extension 7680, with any additional information.
