Jacob Refugio Duran was born December 7, 1987, in Bakersfield, CA, and passed away, unexpectedly on August 1, 2007 at the age of nineteen. Jacob attended Fairfax Middle School, Virginia Ave. Elementary, Foothill High School graduate of 2006 and currently attained freshman status at UC Berkeley. Jacob lived in Bakersfield throughout his whole life. From the time he was a child Jacob had a way of making people laugh and to those who knew him best Jacob, he had a natural sense of humor. Jacob never met a stranger, he struck up conversations with anyone and everyone he met. Jacob was marked by his independency and his heart of gold which captured even the attention of little children, which he loved and always demonstrated compassion towards. Jacob is preceded in death by great- grandparents, Felipe and Andrea Vega. Jacob leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Estella Vega; grandparents, Juan and Dora Vega; sisters, Dora and husband, Richard Joven who was like a father figure, Marisela Duran and husband, Benny Solis; brother, Juan Andres Almanza; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, loving friends and family. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, from 1:00-7:00 p.m., and a Rosary from 7:00-8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Beloved Care, 115 18th St. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Church 900 H.
