Officials have identified a man who was killed in a shootout with a homeowner after allegedly breaking into a Northeast Side home on Wednesday.
Police said Khalfani Baskin, who turned 18 just two days before the break-in, was found dead inside the home with a rifle on top of his chest.
Another man, Adrian Shawn Miller, 24, was wounded in the incident. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of a habitation.
The homeowner, Andrew W. Wharmby, was shot in the chin while confronting the two men as they entered his home about 4:40 a.m., police said. He shot both suspects with a shotgun.
Police said on Friday it was unclear which of the suspects fired the rifle.
