Police say a worker is dead after falling from a tree on the grounds of a Waikiki resort.

The mother of 26-year-old Reid Barcelona says her son was trimming a coconut tree at Hilton Hawaiian Village Monday night when he fell. Emergency responders say he fell about 40 feet and landed on the pool deck of Hilton Hawaiian Village.

The medical examiner's office has ruled the death an accident. Police say there are no signs of foul play. An unattended death investigation is underway.

The state says it's the fourth tree trimmer fatality since January 2011. The Hawaii Occupational Safety and Health Division will also investigate.

Hotel officials and Barcelona's employer did not immediately return phone messages seeking comment Tuesday.
