Kentucky State Police say they have arrested a man and charged him with murder.
Police said 24-year-old Jamie Wagers struck 20-year-old Christian Higdon with a blunt object in the 100 block of Magers Drive on Saturday afternoon.
Higdon then ran down the road screaming for help.
"At first I thought they were just playing, running down the road playing, until the boy ran up into my yard and was covered with blood," said Judy Maggard.
Maggard said Higdon was coherent enough to give his name and age, but never said what happened.
"He didn't say much except to call 911. You know, he knew he was dying. He said, 'I'm dying,' but that's all he ever said," said Maggard.
Maggard said Higdon died in her front yard in less than 10 minutes.
"I can't get it outta my mind. I can't get that boys face outta my mind. You know, watching him lay there and die. There was nothing I could do. There was nothing anybody could have done. I don't think he could have been saved," said Maggard.
Blair Harrison went to Grayson County High School with Higdon. After hearing about his death, she came by the scene to see where her friend lost his life.
"It's crazy. I just wish some of the last words could have been special," said Harrison.
His death came just one day before Father's Day. Higdon leaves behind a son.
"It makes your heart melt thinking about something like that," said Harrison.
Wagers is in the Hardin County Jail on $500,000 bond.
