Sheriff's detectives arrested three people Saturday after a woman told them that she overheard another woman say she had witnessed a murder.

Deputies responded to a call of suspicious circumstances just after 1 a.m. Friday at the Denny's restaurant at 14240 Highway 395. Once there, they spoke to a woman who told them she had given a ride to a woman who told someone over the phone that she "witnessed a murder," according to a news release issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The deputies later tracked down and spoke to the woman who had the phone conversation and she told them the same thing, according to the news release. After determining the woman's story was reliable, detectives launched an investigation.

A person walking their dog found the dead body of 45-year-old Victorville resident Keith Wimberly about 8 a.m. in a desert area near the intersection of Senica and Lorene roads in Victorville, according to the news release.

Detectives later arrested Tracey Lampe, 42, of Victorville, Francisco Mora, 35, of Hesperia and Ashley Gilroy, 27, of Hesperia on suspicion of murder. Sheriff's officials did not specify why they believe the trio killed Wimberly, but said detectives believed all three knew the man. A news release issued by the San Bernardino County Coroner stated Wimberly had "sustained upper body trauma."
