A member of a group of burglary suspects that called themselves the "Oceans Eleven Gang" is dead after committing suicide at the Mercer County Correction Center yesterday, authorities said today.
Christopher S. Tew, 21, died from asphyxiation due to hanging, county officials said. His death has been classified as a suicide.
Tew was among five people arrested last week in connection with more than 15 burglaries in Hamilton Township. Tew and two other men were also charged with the armed robbery of Manze's Insurance Company which took place Dec. 14, police said.
Tew was found dead in B-Unit of the facility, where prisoners are housed in an open, dorm-like setting with a common area and beds.
County corrections internal affairs detectives and the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.
