A 20-year-old Hillsboro man died yesterday after falling from his skateboard.
Hillsboro police say Scotty O'Connor was riding his longboard down a hill near Southeast Frances Street and Imlay Avenue when he fell backward Friday night.
O'Connor, who was not wearing a helmet, hit his head on the pavement, officers say. Paramedics rushed him to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, but he was pronounced dead Sunday.
A family friend says O'Connor was "loved by all around him."
He played high school football at Century High School and was named Lineman of the Year by his conference during his senior season.
A Facebook memorial page has been set up by his friends.
