Army Specialist Ryan M. Goes, 22, of Selkirk, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Albany, N.Y., he was a 2006 graduate of Johnstown High School. After graduation he joined the United States Army on July 27, 2006. He completed basic training and advanced individual training at Ft. Benning, Ga. Specialist Ryan was stationed in Baumholder, Germany pending deployment to the current theatre of operations, until his illness in February 2008 when he was transferred to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He was currently a member of the Alpha Company Warrior Transition Unit at West Point.

Survivors include: his parents, Neil Goes of Johnstown, N.Y. and Dawn Lassonde Goes of Selkirk; his sister, Erica Goes of Johnstown; maternal grandparents, Ruth and the late Joseph Lassonde of Selkirk; paternal grandparents, Cornelius and Louise Goes of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his niece, Makenzie Lang and nephew, Aaron Goes; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home Inc., 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday, Nov.5, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Interment will follow the service at 1:00 p.m. in the B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, N.Y.
