The case of a missing woman is now a murder investigation. Authorities say they've found the body of 31-year-old Jayme Austin who disappeared from her Coquille home.

Investigators believe she was murdered by her sister's husband, Patrick Lee Horath.

KVAL learned Horath led investigators to Austin's body Thursday night up in a mountainous area about 17 miles from her house.

Horath is being charged with her murder.

Authorities tell KVAL they were suspicious of Horath from the start.

The brother-in-law of Austin lived in a home between Austin's house and her mother's. Monday morning, Austin was supposedly showering at her mother's house when she disappeared.

Horath offered to help search.

"When we first talked to him Monday, there were some things we had some concerns about," says Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier. "We started looking at him closer."

Horath was questioned again Thursday evening and arrested. Frasier would not say if he confessed.

Horath led investigators to a mountainous area off Middle Creek Road in Coquille. There, authorities would find Jayme Austin buried under some dirt.

Frasier says this was an intentional murder. He believes Austin was killed sometime Monday.

Horath is being held without bail at the Coos County jail.

"We'd like to extend our condolences to the family," says Coos County Sheriff Andy Jackson. "I know this is a hard time for them but at least there's some conclusion for this."

Horath is expected in court Monday, November 16th.

Frasier would not reveal if any weapon was used, the motive, or if there was any evidence of a sexual assault.
