The Vermont State Police says a 17-year-old Westminster youth is dead after a jack collapsed while he was working under a vehicle.

Police have ruled the death of Luke Alderman an accident.

Police say Alderman was in his garage Sunday evening working beneath the car, which had been raised up with a standard car jack.

The jack tipped over leaving Alderman trapped beneath the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at Springfield hospital.
