Jamey Quindonte Thompson, 24, died Friday at Carolinas Medical Center after being shot multiple times June 25 at an apartment building at 9401 Old Concord Road, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report.

A warrant for the suspect, Thomas Aaron Whitlock, 28, of Rock Hill, S.C., was upgraded from assault with a deadly weapon with attempt to kill inflicting serious injury, to murder. Whitlock is still at large, and police stress that he could be armed and dangerous. The CMPD, along with the Rock Hill Police Department and the York County Sheriff's Office are working to find Whitlock, according to the report.

At 12:16 a.m. June 25, Charlotte police responded to gunshots at the apartment, which is located near Bonnie Lane. When police arrived, they found Thompson inside the apartment with numerous gunshot wounds.
