Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide that was reported to officials very early Saturday morning, Aug. 29.

Dead are Jessica Armstrong and Chad Olson, according to Ferry County Coroner Mike Sandona.

The Washington State Patrol has been called in to investigate.

The two had apparently been married for about two months, but were separated, Sandona said.

It was unclear who was instigating the separation, he said.

The shooting happened at Olson's parents' house. Olson's brother, who lives in a separate residence on the property, suspected something was amiss and discovered the doors to the home were barricaded from the inside, so he called authorities, Sandona said.

There were notes, but there are disconcerting things in the notes, he said.

Autopsies are scheduled Monday on both bodies, he said.

Olson, 21, recently was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree malicious mischief and third-degree theft after allegedly stealing a case of whiskey from the state liquor store in Republic June 25.

He and two other men were arraigned on those charges July 10 and a juvenile was arraigned July 24.
