A Valrico teen driver is dead and his seven passengers are injured after the vehicle they were in crashed. Authorities say 17-year-old Tyler Clark lost control of his Jeep, sending it down an embankment and into a tree yesterday morning. The Bloomingdale High School student died at the scene.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's officials say there's no indication that alcohol or excessive speed played a role in the crash. However, investigators say no one was wearing a seat belt and some teens were sitting on the laps of others.
Six of the seven passengers remained hospitalized last night in serious or stable condition. All are Valrico residents between 15 and 17 years old. Counselors will be at the high school today to help students deal with their grief.
