A New Milford party comes to an explosive end, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

The explosion happened as dozens of people enjoyed an outdoor party in New Milford.

It rattled houses and shook windows throughout the neighborhood killing one person and injuring several others.

"We were sound asleep and I heard a loud explosion. The house actually shook," says Tom Dragone.

It was quite a wake-up call for Tom Dragone and the rest of this quiet New Milford neighborhood.

"Both me and my wife were in bed sleeping. It was so violent. It shook us right out of bed the windows rattled and the house shook," says Dragone.

It happened around 3:00 a.m. at a home on Aspertuck Ridge Road.

They were having an outdoor party.

Billy Babbino was there playing in the band.

He says there were 50-to- 100-people at the party, mostly in their mid-to late 20's. He left just before the explosion.

"It was really calm, people just hanging out having a good time nothing that crazy," says Babbino.

Police say it was near the end of the party that something near an open fire apparently exploded but some people at the party say someone threw a 1/4 keg into the flames.

"I looked outside and heard people screaming saying what did you do?"

"When we came outside we heard people yelling call an ambulance, call an ambulance."

Bob Greco, a physician's assistant who lives nearby, went to help.

"I didn't see any major burns. More like shoulder injuries from people being thrown to the ground," says Greco.

One party goer, 22-year-old Sean Caselli was killed.

Seven others were hurt with non with life threatening.
